Welcome to Dragonflies Outdoor Adventures

At Dragonflies Community Nursery we believe that Community should be at the heart of all we do. We also recognise that children reap a huge amount of physical, cognitive and mental health benefits from being outdoors, and having free, uninterrupted time in nature. This is why, each child before they go to school will receive a year of Outdoor adventures.

Over the last few years, we have worked hard to create a safe play space in Sidley woods for your children. We have chosen a light, clean area of the woods where we have high visibility at all times. We have a fire pit with a fire circle, an arts and crafts corner, a mud and exploration space and a physical play area. Our aim was to create an environment which is familiar to the nursery space, which they already know and love.

In addition, The Bexhill Family Collective CIC who run Dragonflies Community Nursery, have opened The Collective Garden, just across the road from the nursery. This community garden will have a dedicated area for the nursery children to take part in allotment style activities, whilst learning about the changing seasons, wildlife, sustainable living and how to look after our environment.

Many of our nursery team have undertaken Forest School Training and we are hoping to train more in future. We also have a fully vetted range of volunteers who work with our qualified staff to take children on Outdoor adventures.

Children at Dragonflies also walk to the local grocers weekly, to purchase all the fruit and vegetables a week. They enjoy counting and weighing items from the shopping list, touching and exploring different fruit and vegetables and telling the grocers what we will be cooking in the week.
